I guess I’m what you might call a casual scholar of Frank Lloyd Wright. I’ve seen his buildings in San Francisco, Oklahoma, Chicagoland, and of course here in his native Wisconsin. I’ve toured Taliesin and Taliesin West. I’ve read some biographical material and attended several lectures on his life and work.
One of the more recent of those lectures was delivered by what you’d call an academic scholar of FLW, and she declared that this book was “flimsy and attention-seeking”.
I don’t think so. This book doesn’t purport to be non-fiction, and I think it explains a lot of Mamah Cheney’s motivation for … loving Frank. It gives the reader a plausible idea of how events might have unfolded in the last weeks and months of Mamah’s and Uncle Frank’s life together, and why Mamah and her children were killed.
