There are 4 people in their 30s: Alice, Felix; Eileen and Simon. Alice is a novelist that has recently had a nervous breakdown and has met Felix in a pub. She is always fighting with her personality and the awareness of being among those lucky people who can make a career out of writing, but at the same time she doesn't really fit in all the benefits that writing gives such as popularity. She has travelled a lot and now she has come back to Dublin. Eileen has been Alice's best friend since university and is a simple and humble person. She has always been friend to Simon as well. In particular, their relationship is based on true friendship but till the end the reader doesn't really understand where it will lead the two characters.
I have preferred "Normal people" but on the whole it is a worth reading book.
