The story follows Stanley Yelnats (who's been found guilty of stealing) to camp Green Lanke, which, contradictory to the name, has no lake. Here, Stanley and the other "inmates" dig holes. Lots of holes. But why? As the story progresses, you learn more about the history of camp Green Lake and why there are so many holes. A very quick and fun read. Great for all ages!

My daughter caught the book at The Word on The Street, one of our favourite annual events. We are reading a couple of chapters each night and she is quite engrossed in it.
