Thanks so much for including this little bonus book! I've read it before (and got a catch on it via a geocache release - see it here), but am glad to have another release copy; hope this one has as much luck!

I'd read "Bartleby the Scrivener" in school and, as often happens when one is forced to read something that is not to one's taste or mood at the time, and is then graded on it, I didn't care for it. But I re-read it much, much later, after discovering how much I liked Melville's other work, and was amused to find out how much I'd forgotten - and how sympathetic I was to the beleaguered narrator; I could all too easily imagine being driven to distraction by Bartleby's increasing reluctance to do anything. I also began to wonder whether the doctors shouldn't have been called in much earlier, as it appears that this may have been a case of chronic depression - which changes the feel of the story quite a lot... [The story's been adapted to the screen several times, including this 1970 film, which gave the story a then-contemporary setting.]

The second tale, "The Lightning-Rod Man", is a humorous little nod to overly-aggressive salespeople - or maybe just some wishful thinking, as the targeted customer comes out on top this time.

It reads like stereo instructions but I was happy to find the book. It was at a park on a fence
