I bought this from the St Teresa's Hospice shop in Thirsk yesterday during a tour of charity shops and book exchanges to increase my dwindling supplies of reading matter!

I didn't get very far with this. Nothing was going in. It wasn't making much sense . . .
From what I gather, the lights went out at the start of a meeting of the Central Committee and when they came back on Fernando Garrido, General Secretary of the Communist Part in Spain, had been murdered.
The official investigation is to be led by Superintendent Fonsecu, a known Fascist.
The Party approach private detective Pepe Carvalho, ex-communist with a CIA association.
For a murder mysterday, there's an awful lot of emphasis on food, much of which sounds totally unappetizing . . .
