I got this paperback from Better World Books. It's from the "Madeline Bean Catering Mystery" series, and is themed around a Chinese New Year banquet - and a mah-jongg reading that leads our heroine into a series of surprising events, some dramatic and some just - um, well, clumsy. (There's a scene where she accidentally drops someone's cell phone into a glass of iced tea, and she is not nearly as apologetic about it as I'd have been... indeed, she assumes it's the accident predicted by the mah jongg tiles, and is pretty pleased!)

I admit I didn't find myself enjoying this one, despite the occasional amusing bit about the vampiric nature of party-planners. Cozy mystery series do rather rely on some kind of identifying quirk in their amateur sleuths, but Madeline's struck me as annoying. Ah, well!
