I used this year's Christmas money from my parents in law to shorten my book wishlist. I have no idea how this book happened to be on my wishlist, but it is great. It's the story of a Nigerian girl from a small village, being married at 14 and ending up as a slave. At first I had real trouble understandig her English, but as she says some time: you just have to listen, and it will work. I had no idea how a multiple language state works, and you get an idea.
Although it is a hopefull book, if you think about it just a few minutes it's hard not to find it really depressing.
But as Poodlesister says in a journal entry for a different copy of this book: I love the lead character.
