I found this compelling, very readable, and felt invested in the characters, but I sometimes wanting to lightly slap young Honeybee on the cheek to make them be more honest with those adults who were able to help them (Yes, I know, a slap wouldn't have been very helpful to Honeybee). My favourite of the author's is still - Jasper Jones.
I've read a reasonable share of queer fiction, and while this novel will be a valuable addition in the YA-fiction genre, I think it lacked that little something extra for me.
For someone new to the topic I think it gives some insight into kids who are dealing with these issue, I suspect it should be essential reading.
Well worth the read.
