A wonderful concept. Between life and death, at the stroke of midnight, time stands still and you get to choose a different path in the many forked roads of your life and experience how life could have been. In this book Nora has just taken an overdose and is close to death. She is transported to a library of never-ending books, managed by her old school librarian Mrs Elms, who shows her all the different paths of her life that she could have led had she chosen to. She is handed a book of her past regrets (which depresses her even more) but is allowed to live a mountain of different lives (as Nora, and always with a memory of her root life) until she reaches a point where she becomes disappointed in the life she has chosen and is thus transported back to the heavenly library to choose a new life.

Wow, how cool would that be! A few hair raising moments when finding yourself with a different husband or boyfriend and having no idea how to converse with them because you can only ever remember your root life that did not include them.
