A popular author, so I picked up some of her books at a charity sale. This turns out to be a collection of short stories, so I think I'll read it before I release it.

---

Ok, I read it this evening. I just felt like reading and it was close at hand. :)

I actually thought Clark was a romance writer until a request on www.booksforsoldiers.com had me looking for her, and discovering she was a mystery/suspense writer. Most of her books do not interest me (and still do not), but this collection of short stories caught my interest, so I read it. It seemed closer to the cozy mysteries than many of other books, which sound more disturbing suspense.

There are four stories, all featuring an ex-US president (beloved by the people) and his young wife, a congressman. Henry & Sunday (well, Sandra, but the press nicknamed her Sunday and it stuck). Only one is a murder mystery, the others are just mysteries. The final (Merry Christmas/Joyeux Noel) is a feel good happy ending story, which is a nice way to wrap up the book. "A Crime of Passion" is, for such a short murder mystery, reasonably good. Too much "We found out this, sir", but again, it's quite short so can't develop it as much as a a full novel, and information is at least reasonably obtained, an d there is foreshadowing & other such things existing. "They All Ran After the President's Wife" is also fairly well done, and nice to see a non-murder in the cozy mystery areas. The terrorist is an interesting character, and was developed a remarkable amount in a short time. "Hail, Columbia!" was good, with some interesting hints about later twists, but I wish she'd tossed in something about the Aunties at the end!

This is going into the Never Been Bookcrossed Bookbox. Not wild releasing it b/c I don't want to clutter up my release zones list.

Thanks again!
