Cleveland Amory's story of the dirty, starving, injured white cat he rescued on Christmas Eve.
To be placed in the Christmas book box. Didn't finish in time so maybe next time.

The story of a rescue cat and the curmudgeon who rescued him (and was rescued by him in return).
Found shivering, injured, and hungry on Christmas Eve, this white cat (no relation to Aloysius, AKA Rainbow) Cleveland Amory takes him in and adopts him.

After much rumination, he names him Polar Bear.

Amory's section on giving the cat medication (a tablet) was hilarious especially considering my own struggles to give cats in the past medication.

Amory was one influential members of Funds for Animals, which was responsible for some of the efforts to stop the clubbing of baby seals (painting the seals) and whale killing by ruthless kill-at-any-cost whaling. He rescued animals before it was de rigeur.

I can understand why my mom didn't like reading him. His convoluted sentence structure as well as unusual word choices (lots of 50-cent words) made it difficult to read at times.
