This book was very delightful and what I consider to be a gem of a book. Miss Pettigrew, a "spinster" has never been loved and the relationship between Miss Pettigrew and Miss LeFosse is so enduring. It almost feels like a Cinderella retelling. The dialogue is so witty and I loved the illustrations throughout the book. The book was written in a different era (1938) so keep that in mind when you come across a racist remark.

This was utterly delightful and such a fun romp! As Queen72 mentioned, there are some dated attitudes present that show that this novel is a product of its time. However, it was a fast and fun read about one middle-aged spinster's chance to "carpe diem." The period illustrations were a charming touch. Very enjoyable read for me!
