This book was a longtime resident of my house. The background of this book is that it was owned by a resident of Pittsburgh and also at some time it was part of the Western Pennsylvania Hospital Library. I don't know the order of ownership or if there were any others along the way who held this book as their own.

At some point, somehow, it came into my home and resided on the dining room bookshelf for at least 25 years, if not longer.
The story of how this book became a bookcrossing book is that I wanted to complete mojosmom's Universe Opera Guide set that, to my disbelief, I started 11 years ago, and thought this book might be nice to include in that parcel.

This book is kind of interesting in that, I can assume, it's dated as this is the latest, expanded edition from 1963 (originally published in 1955), but it strikes me that plenty of forgotten bits of knowledge and details are included within these covers. If an opera encyclopedia were written today would it include all these same facts of the past? Is all this information gathered together on the internet somewhere? Somehow I doubt it. In a way, this book is a little treasure for the right person.

A quick aside: I apologize for not having any bookcrossing labels. It's been so long since I've been active, and I shipped my my supplies away approximately three years ago to a very active bookcrosser in Maine. My thinking at the time was that I was done with bookcrossing. Guess not...
