Georgie Hart loves her job--running the luxury handbag concession at Carrington's Department store in the pretty seaside town of Mulberry Bay, and treating herself (once too often!) to a red velvet cupcake with buttercream icing in Carrington's café.
But Georgie is thrown into disarray when Carrington's is plunged into a recession-busting makeover, cueing the arrival of femme fatale Maxine, who wields the axe in her immaculately-manicured hands.
It spells a recipe for disaster for Georgie and soon she is fighting not only for her job, but also for the attentions of her gorgeous boss, James. And when hot newcomer Tom arrives, who may or may not be the best thing since sliced bread, Georgie must decide where her loyalties really lie...

This was a great read with a good mixture of characters and interesting storyline.

Chosen from the book box. A new author for me..the front cover is very appealing! Thank you 😊

This was an oddly compelling book. Littered as it was with predictable character stereotypes and the grating obsession with brand names and vapid conversation, not to mention the casual racism (no, not all travellers are illiterate and to make offhand comments without giving Annie a voice is sloppy writing and at that point, I wanted to put the book down), I carried on reading it. I wanted to find out what happened at the end despite me really not liking any of the characters at all, and would go out of my way to avoid them if I happened upon them in real life. As such, this book has actually done a good job in creating conversation 🤣 So the author can't be too bad at all!!

Well this was very different from my last read and though it made me laugh a couple of times, in the end I got bored and gave up on it. It reminded me a little of the Devil Wears Prada but was nowhere near as good as that tale.

Taken from the Food and Drink book box. Seems like a nice easy summer read. Mixed reviews from previous readers, so lets see what I think.

Began reading this and was getting a strong sense of deja vu and sur enough I had already read this one. Here is my previous journal entry.
"This is a light read that should be taken with a pinch of salt. As tabby-cat-owner says, some sad moments and some funny moments. I felt if Georgie has just stopped for a moment and taken stock of her situation many of her problems would not have arisen, but then there would have been no novel. ;-)"
