This book dealt with some tough subjects. I think she portrayed the dynamics of a family well. I'm looking forward of discussing this book with others. I'm sending this book off Monday to a book friend in Tennessee to start a book ring.

I cannot remember the last time a book made me cry. This one just grabbed me, drove its tentacles into my heart, and would only let go in the final wrenching moments. I loved how the story was told from differing viewpoints, and I loved how there was no bad guy--just a family struggling to do what's best for all its members. This is one I'll remember for a very long time.

I received this as a Traveling Book from a friend on a book box list and once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I love how Picoult could get inside the characters and take me with her. She didn't limit her readers to one-sided views either but allowed us to see both sides which led us to understand how hard the decisions were. This story had some very surprising twists to it and was full of sadness and gave me a reminder of what is important as a parent...fairness and objectivity, whenever that is possible.

Release planned for Wednesday, June 02, 2004 at postal release in Bellingham, Washington USA.

This is a Traveling book and is going to Zachary Louisiana next. I loved the book and felt that Picoult had crawled into my skin and knew how I felt about things. I will carry this story with me for quite some time.

This book was read much earlier in the summer and I just realized I had never journaled it ... Brian and Sarah have the perfect life - a happy marriage and two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. Their perfect life is completely turned upside down when their daughter is diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia. As treatments begin to fail, the decision is made to conceive a child who is a perfect genetic match to their gravely ill daughter in order for the new baby to be a living donor. Time goes by and the "baby" who has turned 13 grows tired of being a living donor when a huge request/demand is made of her to give to her ill sister who is now 16 and the 13 year old files for medical emancipation. Jodi Picoult is a master story teller and this book is the finest of hers that I have read yet. The intricacies of this family dynamic are explored and teased out making it a book that is very difficult to put down. I had heard so much buzz about the ending that I could scarcely wait to get to it and boy, it *is* the shocker that everyone has been talking about. It caught me completely by surprise.
I am SO sorry butterfly41737 that is has taken me so long to journal this ... I truly forgot about it :) Thanks again so much for sharing this book with all of us!
