It began by spray-painting a door. Then detonating a hand grenade. Each task is secretly filmed and uploaded for other ‘Players’ to comment on. The more daring the mission, the greater the thrill and reward – and the acclaim.

But how far will loser Henrik “HP” Pettersson go before the seemingly innocent game he was invited to play on a ‘lost’ mobile phone begins to play him? With his police protection officer sister dragged into the action, and the game looking more and more like a trap, HP’s excitement is turning to fear.

I've mixed feelings about this book. The idea of "the game" I really liked & at the start I was gripped, but as the action happened faster & faster my enthusiasm waned as things became at times too improbable or coincidental. The often short, snappy paragraphs made it feel like things were happening fast but it didn't get my heart pounding! And to be honest I didn't find HP (or his sister for that matter), particularly likeable so while I felt I should have been willing him on to beat the game, I wasn't.

The twist at the end? Well that was no surprise as I'd sussed that at from the first :o)
I guess on balance I'd say I liked the book & found it an easy read, which is a shame really as it should have been an exhilarating one. Enough to read the rest of the series? Hmmm....not sure, I'd like to see how it all pans out but not sure how much HPs cocky character I can take.
