Going to re-read and watch film straight after!

Despite being written in the 90s, I found it really funny.
When researching what decade this was set in I discovered that the first Bridget Jones book was based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This book had many parallels to Persuasion - this was lost on me but I think would be enjoyed by someone who knows Austen's work well and is seeking a contemporary comedic slant.
Will watch the film tonight then will donate book together with DVD to charity shop.

Have now watched the film and, as ever, it's so important to read book first. Book & film are sooo different. They put Danial Cleaver in the film - no spoilers here!!
The bonus bits on the dvd explain how they filmed in Thailand which was interesting and there some funny exerts too.

Is on the counter top by till in Charity shop 'Going for Bust' on Christchurch High street, as I placed dvd with book and popped pretty ribbon and label on it for someone to buy as a valentine gift.

Update - it didn't sell as a valentine gift so i expect book & DVD will part company - hopefully someone will but it...
