More detailed information about the deprivations , the constant struggle to find clothing, the efforts to remain upbeat, and the ever present sense of foreboding pervade this book. It isn't historically perfect but it is a novel that imparts a sense of atmosphere and danger while showcasing the strength of five women and their steadfast friendship.
