Strange Fits of Passion

This book reminds me always of London, personally. I read it just before I arrived in London and it seemed that while I was there it was advertised on big posters in nearly every Tube stop in the city.
That personal note aside, I really liked this novel. It's not a heavy read, but it doesn't lack depth. The tale of a woman trying to take control of her life and escape the horror of how its turned out. It is told through the eyes of her and the characters she meets on the way. As though each character is being interviewed about the circumstances that eventually unfold in a small Maine fishing town.
I found it easy to sympathise with the characters and become involved in their world.
