­­­I'm not sure why I picked up Lisa St. Aubin de Terán's The Palace. I'd never heard of her before, so it wasn't name recognition. Maybe it was the striking cover photo, or maybe the back-cover blurb enticed me. I don't know. All I do know is that the book has been sitting around for years waiting to be read. Was it worth the wait? I think so. I might not have appreciated it when I first purchased it years ago. I've broadened my horizons and my tastes have changed....
