The title is misleading because only the last of six chapters deals with eight specific teens who are involved with saving wild horses. I would've liked to hear more about them because it's nice to see kids get passionate about something that matters.
The majority of the book is a smear campaign on the practices of the BLM and others, including how and why they round up wild horses and what happens to them afterward. It's not pretty and effectively makes the reader sad and mad. The government's position is given lip-service, but not any credibility. I'm not saying the authors are wrong at all, just that it's possible to write this story with more balance and yet achieve the same result.
The undeniable highlights of the book are the evocative black and white photos of the wild horse herds taken by Melissa Farlow. It's worth picking up just to flip through and dream of the unspoiled West.
