I have not yet completed this book but I am finding it irritating. It is difficult to follow and more like trying to read the book of Numbers than a story. I keep hanging in there, though, because about every 3rd to 4th chapter has a section that is interesting and makes some sense. It is supposed to be the history of the elves and dwarves and I don't want to miss any good stuff...

This book did not improve as it went...I am convinced that Tolkien was in a manic, rambling phase when he wrote this one. His son did the best he could to make rational sense out of his father's ramblings but it just didn't work for me.

I plan to send to a friend who is a Lord of the Rings fan...maybe it's just me...

I just got the book today. I am looking forward to reading it. I'll let you know what I think. Thanks Spirit Warrior.
