In Kiss Kiss you will find eleven devious, shocking stories from the master of the unpredictable, Roald Dahl.
What could go wrong when a wife pawns the mink coat that her lover gave her as a parting gift? What happens when a priceless piece of furniture is the subject of a deceitful bargain? Can a wronged woman take revenge on her dead husband?
In these dark, disturbing stories Roald Dahl explores the sinister side of human nature: the cunning, sly, selfish part of each of us that leads us into the territory of the unexpected and unsettling. Stylish, macabre and haunting, these tales will leave you with a delicious feeling of unease.
'Roald Dahl is one of the few writers I know whose work can accurately be described as addictive' Irish Times
Roald Dahl, the brilliant and worldwide acclaimed author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, and many more classics for children, also wrote scores of short stories for adults. These delightfully disturbing tales have often been filmed and were most recently the inspiration for the West End play, Roald Dahl's Twisted Tales by Jeremy Dyson. Roald Dahl's stories continue to make readers shiver today.

Picked this up tonight - looks good.
Marvellous collection of macabre and twisted short stories, very clever, and often where people get their just desserts in slightly amusing ways. And sometimes undeserving people come to a sticky end. But it's all good =) I can't think whether I've ever read any Dahl short stories before, but I will have to keep an eye open for other volumes of books.
As with any collection of short stories, there are some you like more than others, but with this collection I can't say there were any that I read and thought: didn't think much of that one! I particularly liked the Landlady, which I can imagine being a great little short in an old British horror film; The Way up to Heaven, and that creepy ambiguity about what did happen to the husband and had she known all along?; Mrs Bixby and the Colonel's Coat - never assume that other people aren't capable of the same suberfuge as you are, he he... oh, and the poor cat in Edward the Conqueror!! I do enjoy a story with a cat, although the unspoken end in that one is rather sad. The final story, The Champion of the World, I found a bit slow although I absolutely loved the resolution to the story with the pheasants.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Taking this to a little bookcrossers' gathering tomorrow in celebration of Kirjakko's 50th birthday!
Yep, little old me turned 50 yesterday. I didn't want a big party back at home (would have had to clean up the house which is completely taken up by rescue books at the moment, it looks as if a bag-lady is camping there), so had to travel elsewhere and what better place to age than York, which is full of old things anyway?
Met up with a bunch of very nice bookcrossers who have nick-named me the Finnish Ambassador of Yorkshire 😊. They even put up a sign for me (see pic)!
I think I haven't read this Dahl and Kisses are always welcome, birthday or not.

And the book is here, thank you Kirjakko! I love the way Roald Dahl writes and I can't wait to read this one too.

A great collection of short stories. The one about bees was really creepy and one of my favorites.
