Jane Whitefield is a woman who knows how to make people disappear. When this novel opens, people that she has made disappear are reappearing at a courthouse. One of them, a little boy, is the heir to a huge fortune, and the legal system is about to pronounce him dead. It seems that a while back, his "parents" had a break in, were killed, and the boy and his nanny came in on it just after it happened. Anyway...to make a long story short, Jane is bringing the boy back to prove his is very much alive. She doesn't get to the court without a fight, however, and ends up in jail. While there, she is noticed by another person, Mary Perkins, who also needs to disappear. Seems Mary got tempted by the good life that stealing a few million or so can bring. Now that she's out, people are looking for her who want the money. As you get further into the story, it turns out there is a connection between both cases.

Lots of action, and it's fun watching Jane become someone else from time to time. Okay for mystery fans. I would start with Vanishing Act, the first in the series, or you might be a little lost.
