Journal Entry 1 by Semioticghost from Ipswich, Suffolk United Kingdom on Sunday, January 25, 2004
This is the catch-all for the erotica bookbox I'm organising. Current members are:

DONE:
Kleptokitty, Weebly, mrsbridgewater, purple-pixie, Yowlyy, jacinta2000, Tehuti, Camis, foxy737, mickeydoodah, Diomedes

PLEASE SEE UP-TO-DATE LIST OF MEMBERS
Ladies and Gent, the current running order (Jan 2007) for this bookbox is:
purple-pixie, Yowlyy, jacinta2000, foxy737, Mrsbridgewater, madam-mim, Sterile, angellica, caffcaff, Rillaith, Tehuti, Camis, mickeydoodah, Diomedes ...and back to me, Semioticghost.

Then we start again at the beginning for those who are interested.

If geography or personal preference suggest a different posting order, please feel free to re-arrange things.

The bookbox is themed, so please stick to the general rule of slightly dirty on one end and pornographic on the other. For each book you take out, please put one in. If you don't want items to appear on your bookshelf, commenting as anony-mouse is perfectly acceptable.

Lastly, I've included a piece of Lush's 'Bohemian' soap for everybody, which smells clean and lemony and is there for the purpose of washing your brain out with soap after indulging in the bookbox, if need be :)

Please journal the bookbox as such, if only to say you've got it, and who you're passing it on to and any comments. There's no need to journal the books you're leaving in, but make sure you journal what you take out. PLEASE TRY TO TURN THE BOX AROUND WITHIN TWO WEEKS.

Posted off to Kleptokitty today, 26.1'04, on Royal Mail three-day-delivery. Hope you enjoy it!

Journal Entry 2 by Kleptokitty on Wednesday, January 28, 2004
Whoo! My lodger is fascinated by the books, and my son by the soap - everybody wins :~)

Looking forward to rummaging further later tonight when I get some peace.

Journal Entry 3 by Kleptokitty on Saturday, January 31, 2004
This is a corking idea, so big thanks to Semioticghost for organising it.

I'm not shy, so will say what I've taken out & put in. I'm also greedy, so I've taken two :~)

I've taken out Vermillion Gates which looks a bit 'Black Lace' like. And Meeting the Master which caught my eye immediately.

I'm putting into the box The Memoirs of Dolly Morton and Brief Encounters - Stories of Love, Sex & Travel (very appropriate considering my forthcoming plans!!).

I'm sure both of the books I've taken out will be available again shortly, so future bookbox recipients please feel free to ask for them as they don't look suitable for wild release!

This bookbox will be on it's way to Chelseagirl early next week.

Journal Entry 4 by chelseagirl from Faringdon, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Thursday, February 5, 2004
Kleptokitty called round with this tonight and it smells wonderful! I haven't really had much of a chance to look through it yet but will have fun once the kids have settled down. Got a couple of candidates to go in there (including one that MrsBridgewater sent me a while ago, hope that's not cheating!) but I need to finish one of them first, so I'll hang on to this for a couple of days if that's okay with everyone.

Journal Entry 5 by chelseagirl from Faringdon, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Monday, February 9, 2004
Okay, I've decided to take out Totally Herotica and 2477 Ad Part 1 from this book box. (see journal entries for the reasons why).

I've added Pleasures: Women Write Erotica and The Sexual Life of Catherine M.

I was going to add in another book, Women on Top but it wouldn't fit in the box. If anyone would like to read it PM me and I'll put it in the post ... in a plain brown envelope, of course!

Many thanks for organising this ring, SemioticGhost. I've had a lot of fun leafing through the books and the soap was an especially welcome surprise!

I'll be posting this off to Weebly in the next day or two.

Journal Entry 6 by weebly from Hartwell, Northamptonshire United Kingdom on Friday, February 13, 2004
Arrived today, with a ring and a relay - woo hoo lot of books. Had to explain to hubby what it was - he quite likes book crosing now as eyes lit up lmao. I'll browse over the weekend and let you know what has been chosen.

Journal Entry 7 by weebly from Hartwell, Northamptonshire United Kingdom on Saturday, February 21, 2004
Choices have been made - books have been removed !!

We (I had to let hubby help) have chosen Pleasures: Women Write Erotica and The Sexual Life of Catherine M.

I have added Women on Top a paperback version of the book chelseagirl mentioned above so it will fit, and The Karma Sutra which my hubby says is hard to read, with the old language - but a must for a duuuurty book box.

I am posting out to Mrsbridgewater today, and I have saved you from receiving the sexual life of Catherine M back!

Journal Entry 8 by mrsbridgewater from Holybourne, Hampshire United Kingdom on Sunday, February 29, 2004
Recieved the book a couple of days ago, but life has been hectic this weekend, so sorry for the delay in adding a journal entry. Off to have a rumage through the box to see what takes my fancy!

Journal Entry 9 by mrsbridgewater from Holybourne, Hampshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, March 16, 2004
Oh what a choice!

Have taken out 'Brief Encounters' and added 'Summer of Enlightenment' and a surprise extra - which is not dirty in the same sense as the rest of the books!

Journal Entry 10 by purple-pixie from Nuneaton, Warwickshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 17, 2004
This box arrived today, and the contents are very interesting!

I will send it on sometime next week, there's a book which I really want to add but I'm only half way through it.

Journal Entry 11 by YowlYY on Sunday, April 4, 2004
Arrived yesterday :-)
I have already two candidates for the box, but I am still contemplating which two I should take out...I will decide by tomorrow, and send the box to the next recipient on the list.
Thanks to Semioticghost for organising this... it's "good dirty fun" ;-)

Journal Entry 12 by YowlYY on Monday, April 5, 2004
The box is now ready to continue its journey, but before it does so, a few words on my catches...

I couldn't leave Summer of Enlightenment in the box, since I have never read a "Black Lace" story and after the Stevadonna short introduction, I felt as I was missing out an important part of English erotica ;-). And then I couldn't say no to Harry because it was just too cute ;-)

I added two titles to the box, which I think will bring back the red colour to the original shade:
Vox and The Butcher.

Finally, I received a few days ago in a letter of Semioticghost several slices of lemony soap by Lush. They were to be put into the bookbox, in order to "clean off the brains from all the "durrrrtiness", as she put it ;-)
The box smells wonderful again!

I hope Jacinta2000 will enjoy this bookbox...and may the content bring some excitement to the English countryside ;-)

Journal Entry 13 by lotsofbooks2003 from Tonbridge, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, April 7, 2004
Thanks for the bookbox.

I've removed 4 books because all were different in their own way and some were historically interesting (well, that's what I like to say!). It's good to think that the nosy neighbours are wondering what this red box is outside my house. A good selection of books, anyway.

Removed:

1. How to make Love to the same person for the Rest of Your Life (sounds like it is written by the Pope and is probably pretty unrealistic (!) but it would be interesting to see how convinced the readers will be. I note that it is written by Dagmar O'Connor who may be possibly Catholic.

2. Vox
3. Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure
4. The Kama Sutra

Replaced with

1. Nexus Letters (kinky stuff)
2. Secrets
3. The Stonehurst Letters
4. Castle of Torment

(some picked up from a tiny seedy seaside town and one was picked up accidently by my elderly mother who didn't realise she had bought one of these books when she bought a multibook purchase at a booksale). When I have finished I could put them back in the redbox at a later date.

Journal Entry 14 by lotsofbooks2003 at on Wednesday, April 7, 2004

foxy737

okay managed to stop long enough to look through box very interesting i'm afraid i had to add one book slightly mild compared to the rest but with an erotic connection due to the characters life choices hope that's okay this allowed me to be extra greedy and take out four books

1. castle of torment - silver moon book
2.vox - phone sex story
3.the nexus letters - nexus true confessions
4.the butcher - thin but looks like he gets straight to the point from quick look that i had

i have added four more books three black lace books variety of storylines and my mild cop out book for the more innocent of you out there will pm next on list and post on soon as i get address.

if off to read now so much stuff to choose from thanks semiotic ghost

i understand the box has skipped tiggsybabes at their request so will keep sending on to Tehuti

Journal Entry 16 by tehuti from Swansea, Wales United Kingdom on Saturday, July 3, 2004
I really must apologise, but I had to let this sit in the sorting office for a long while before being able to collect it, due to a crazy work load this last month. I'll start digging through later today.

Journal Entry 17 by tehuti from Swansea, Wales United Kingdom on Friday, July 9, 2004
I've taken out Path of the Tiger, which looks like fun. In its place, I'm putting in Serious Pleasure, a collection of lesbian erotic stories and poetry, to broaden the scope of the box. On to camis next.

Journal Entry 18 by tehuti from Swansea, Wales United Kingdom on Sunday, July 11, 2004
Just remembered a book I no longer need that might be of interest. I am inserting Tree of Ecstacy: An Advanced Manual of Sex Magic in exchange for River of Secrets. The box will be sent to camis tomorrow (Monday).

Journal Entry 19 by camis from Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 13, 2004
Box arrived this morning - have had a quick look at the contents but will have a more thorough look through later on. A couple of books have caught my eye already!

Journal Entry 20 by camis from Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom on Wednesday, July 21, 2004
Ok, have had a look through and have made my choices! I have taken out Demon's Dare and Secrets and replaced them with All The Trimmings and Herotica 4

Am waiting for Mickeydoodah's address so I can send this box on its merry way! However, am off on holiday next week, so if the address doesn't arrive before then, there may be a hold up (and I will have to find a good hiding place for the box as my parents are house sitting!!)

Thanks for organising this.

Journal Entry 21 by mickeydoodah from Chessington, Surrey United Kingdom on Wednesday, August 18, 2004
Thanks Camis, I received the well-worn box (how the postman squeezed it through the letterbox is beyond me) and following a cold shower, I shall now take a longer look at the contents! I'll make another journal entry soon. Cheers!

Journal Entry 22 by mickeydoodah from Chessington, Surrey United Kingdom on Tuesday, August 31, 2004
I haven't received nighteyes's address, so I have asked for diomedes's. the Red Box will continue its journey very soon. I have kept "How to make love to the same person", replacing it with "Police Ladies". How that one came into my possession in the first place is, well, too embarrassing to go into. Sent to Diomedes.

Journal Entry 23 by Semioticghost from Ipswich, Suffolk United Kingdom on Thursday, June 30, 2005
Dodau has now joined the waiting list for this book box, so please send it on to her when you finish, tiggsy, and may this serve as a gentle reminder to diomedes to send things on when you get a chance :)

Journal Entry 24 by foxy737 from Westgate on Sea, Kent United Kingdom on Monday, October 10, 2005
has this box moved yet?
still waiting for round two, does anyone else want this box to start moving again or is it just me?

Journal Entry 25 by Semioticghost from Ipswich, Suffolk United Kingdom on Tuesday, October 11, 2005
Am receiving this box from diomedes tonight and will send it on to tiggsybabes if she's up for it. Otherwise it'll just keep moving along the previous recipients so we can all get some thrills. Please PM me if you are no longer interested :)

Journal Entry 26 by Semioticghost from Ipswich, Suffolk United Kingdom on Wednesday, October 12, 2005
This was passed back to me last night in the Stamford arms. I've passed three books around to interested parties straight away, and have taken an armful out myself, which I'll replentish with books from my shelf. Two more keen members have also signed up, so all is good.

I think the box itself is not up to another journey, so, sadly, and despite it redness and general uniqueness, I will replace it.

Thanks ever so much to whoever put the orange soap in after the lemon soap was used up: it's still important that you wash your brains out with soap after rifling through the contents!!!

Currently in the box are:
Police Ladies [Yolanda Celbridge]:
An extremely unlikely, spanking romp through the Scottish countryside, with a puzzlingly random pagan worship element thrown in. The first half is ok, the second half is so mindbogglingly spurious it's funny again. Strikes me as something written for straight men, rather than women.

Avenging angel: a fucky book with a bit of a mystery/thriller element thrown in. To be commended for the elderly, fatherly, pervy wine expert and some pretty rare female attitudes. Not my thing in particular, but I can see how it appeals.

Both of these were in the box unregistered, together with a few more mostly nexus-published books not listed here yet, so I registered them all - I'm curious to see what you think.

Red Hot Diva: Threesome:
Three pieces of lesbian short fiction, mostly better written than your standard erotica fare and with a fine vampire story at the end. [I'm biased, I like vampire fiction of any kind].

The Cruel and the Meek: non-fic collection aiming to explore the roots of the links between lust, domination and pain. "Describes some of the extraordinary facets of sadism, masochism and flaggelation." The writing is a bit plodding, but it had interesting bits in places; it's also endearingly old fashioned.

Pride and Promiscuity: The lost Sex Scenes of Jane Austen [what it says on the tin, I presume]

Lady Chatterley's Lover [D.H. Lawrence]. I thought it was time for this time for this honoured and formerly racy classic to get an airing. I don't particularly like Lawrence, but that's personal taste.

Journal Entry 27 by Semioticghost from Ipswich, Suffolk United Kingdom on Wednesday, October 12, 2005
I promise this is the last journal entry from me here for today!

Just for everybody's information, this is the current running order for the bookbox:
TO GO:
tiggsybabes, minx2012, Yokospungeon, Sterile, Celticstar, Detailista

Please try to pass the box onwards within two weeks, so we don't get a repeat of the delay induced by the only male member of the box, who hasn;t even journalled it before giving it back to me! Pah! [I'm very fond of him though].

Then we start again at the beginning for those who are interested: Kleptokitty [to be timed for when she's back in england, so please pm her and see, otherwise we'll change the order] Weebly, mrsbridgewater, purple-pixie, Yowlyy, jacinta2000, foxy737, Tehuti, Camis, mickeydoodah, Diomedes ...and back to me, Semioticghost.

If you aren't interested at the moment, please drop me a PM, otherwise I'll leave you on the list.

I have just registered a companion for this book box. It will be The Blue Book Bag and can be found here:
http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/3368652/

I propose that I send this on to a point in the middle of the total number of current participants, to reduce the wait for everybody and keep smaller volumes of books moving more quickly.

At my current count, this would mean that PurplePixie would be the first recipient of the book bag – would that be ok with you all? I’ll assume agreement unless I hear differently, so could you please send me your address, PP?

PLEASE NOTE: I haven’t yet read enough new filth to make up the bag properly, so this won’t get going for at least another couple of weeks – if any of you are in a greater hurry, please send the odd titillating book to me and I’ll get it started sooner. PM for my address if necessary or ask on BCUK, where lots of people have it already.

Avenging angel: a fucky book with a bit of a mystery/thriller element thrown in. To be commended for the elderly, fatherly, pervy wine expert and some pretty rare female attitudes. Not my thing in particular, but I can see how it appeals and the pretence at plot was appreciated.

(Both of these were in the box unregistered, so I registered them all - I'm curious to see what you think. The very hilariously named Slave Mines of Tormunil, a third unregistered guest in the box, will go towards starting off the blue book bag.)

Red Hot Diva: Threesome:

hi all,

one of our number has just drawn my attention to her new 'adult' bookrelay setup, so I thought I'd mention it on here, too, in case some of you can't wait :)
Here's her note:

I don't know if you use the book relay site but wanted to try
and get a message around to those who participate in the red bookbox you
run to give them another trading option between running of the box as i
have just started a UK relay for adult literature. for those that have not
used it before it is at www.bookrelay.com they can register very quickly
and begin trading books same day usually.
I have just started a new relay on the relay site for those of us with
ADULT literature that we find hard to get new homes for (not the sort of
thing you leave as wild release!!) if anyone is interested the link is
http://bookrelay.com/relay.php?id=1436 hopefully we can keep this one going.
Then we can continue trading in between times we get your box and bag.
Don't know best way to pass on message unless you want to copy and paste
this message onto bookbox as journal entry, that's up to you. i have posted
on forum and bookcrossing uk / bookcrossing kent yahoo sites.
can you suggest anything else?
Thanks Sarah x

Destroying Angel by Sam Hastings

Pride & Promiscuity

Have put in:

More Wicked Words - Black Lace short stories

Have PMed Minx2012 for her address.

This is the official notification that The Blue Book Bag has been on the first leg of its journey as of yesterday afternoon. Thus, none of you should have to wait for filth for too long!

Journal Entry 35 by minx2012 on Saturday, November 12, 2005
Since the snarl-up with the postboxes in my block of flats, I've been having things sent to work. It's good to see that this arrived in suitably discreet packaging, although I delighted in telling several of my more nosy colleagues what was in it.

UPDATE: Have picked out Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden and and a book of short stories from New Woman - and in their place are Moll Flanders and Women on Top.
I should be seeing Yoko in the next week, so I'll pass the box onto her then.

Journal Entry 36 by YokoSpungeon from Dunboyne, Co. Meath Ireland on Monday, November 28, 2005
I heaved this book box breathlessly home, and dripping with excited sweat, opened it up wide.

I have not yet chosen which one to take out, but I have added a pocket sized Dorling Kindersley 'Guide to Sex Games'.

Thanks for organising this - what great fun!

Edit: Apologies for the delay - will forward on asap to CelticStar.

Ohhhhh, what a lovely surprise :)

The existance of the infamous red book box was whispered gently in my ear several times on BCUK many months ago...and finally it came :)

Thankyou everyone! For the books, and for the parcel envy of my colleagues when this was opened without forethought at my desk( I told them with a wry grin 'you have to give to receive....' a variation on my usual mutterings of 'you have to send post to get post')

I've taken

The Cruel & The Meek by Walter Braun
Delta of Venus, Erotica by Anais Nin

and added

The Story of O by Pauline Reage
The Story of O, Part Two by Pauline Reage

I'll try to get to Lush tomorrow to add some soap before posting to weebly on monday.

Am I included in the Blue Book Bag now too? If not can I sign up please?

thanks again everyone :)

Will have a look later and see what I want to swap.

Journal Entry 44 by mrsbridgewater from Holybourne, Hampshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, April 25, 2006
Sorry for the delay! Being hugely pregnant and having children on Easter holidays meant that the book box got put on a back burner for a while!

Have taken out 'Women on Top' and replaced it with 4 others, plus some little extra treats! Feel free to help yourselves and have some fun ;-)

Off to meet Glitterlover soon - she wants a quick poke (!) then the box will be on its way!

Journal Entry 45 by mrsbridgewater from Holybourne, Hampshire United Kingdom on Monday, March 19, 2007
Will send this off to Camis - as I have had no reply from anyone else in the running order!

Have added a few bits and bobs to the box to help this run smoothly :-)

Journal Entry 46 by GlitterLover from Leyland, Lancashire United Kingdom on Saturday, March 24, 2007
Quick poke indeed... thanks mrsbridgewater for a rather lovely rummage...
I have taken out Black lace book of women's sexual fantasties and Story of O part 2. And a sachet of ID glide - thanks for that whoever put in the samples.
I am replacing with a copy of Macho Sluts (lesbian SM - woo hoo) and Siren magazine.
What a great box this is... Thanks

Journal Entry 47 by bigcurlyloz from Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire United Kingdom on Sunday, July 8, 2007
Do I look like a girl who would love a red box of filth?!? Obviously so!

I was accosted by GlitterLover whilst waiting for the release walk at the UnConvention to start and it didn't take much persuading for me to take this. Luckily it fit in the rucksack, otherwise I'd never have made it to the station along with all the other books I picked up over the weekend!

Anyway, have had a rifle through the contents and want so many things I think I'll have to go shopping to replace them all! If someone could let me know what I ought to do about passing it on, that'd be good, as there doesn't really seem to be a running order any more!!

Journal Entry 48 by Semioticghost from Ipswich, Suffolk United Kingdom on Sunday, July 8, 2007
Hello, there, all,

I think the current running order is:

Glad the box found a new temporary home with BigCurlyOz.

Journal Entry 49 by bigcurlyloz from Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, July 25, 2007
Ooooh, so much to choose from! I am taking out The Story of O and A Spy in the House of Love, and putting in The Bride Stripped Bare and Please Save Me! I have also added a copy of Scarlet magazine.

The box is now ready to travel onwards and I've pmed celticstar who it's meant to go to next.

Journal Entry 50 by celticstar from Denbighshire, Wales United Kingdom on Monday, August 6, 2007
Arrived this morning, many thanks Loz for posting onto me.
