White Teeth

Zadie Smith's White Teeth is a delightfully cacophonous tale that spans 25 years of two families' assimilation in North London. The Joneses and the Iqbals are an unlikely a pairing of families, but their intertwined destinies distill the British Empire's history and hopes into a dazzling multiethnic melange that is a pure joy to read. Smith proves herself to be a master at drawing fully-realized, vibrant characters, and she demonstrates an extraordinary ear for dialogue. It is a novel full of humor and empathy that is as inspiring as it is enjoyable.
I must admit this is the 1st book this year that I have not finished reading. The author is well-known, praised amongst critic but I simply cannot get into her stories! I mean, the subject might be interesting and with this one, which is her first novel, I felt it went nowhere. I felt all the reminiscence of their past was too long and somehow not very useful at all for the understanding of the current situation. I might not understand it or simply, in my case I think, it’s a novel way too long for what it’s worth. Not so sure I will read other books by her.
Hope everything will be like :)
The cycle of chaos,
when two families run
circles like a scythe.

This is not really a book I can get into. There was someone else that wanted to read it too.
And I don't want it to sit here and collect dust, so off it goes to a new person to visit! ;)
