Another book I could not resist reading first!!! I love crime thrillers, my favourite genre. This author is new to me and as it is the first in a series of books featuring Inspector McLean I just had to read it. It was a good thriller and I liked the character of McLean and the other characters in the book showed great potential for further interesting reads. I just did not like the supernatural element to the book. That spoilt it a bit for me and puts me off trying the next book in the series as apparently that has supernatural elements too. Mind you, I could also be persuaded to read it if the book just happened to pop into my lap accidentally!

Hope you enjoy this book, it was one I spotted on your BC wish list.

Have a great Christmas!

Finally got round to reading this novel. I didn't mind the supernatural element. Having a detective with a touch of feyness gave the tale an extra twist. The one thing that didn't gel for me was Madame Rose - a drag artist fortune teller plying her trade in for the most part sensible Edinburgh. Nor could I imagine an Inspector letting his Sergeant getting away with reading the paper all day. That said, like the previous reader I'd probably still read more books in the series so I guess the author's done his job.

Thank you RedDahlia for sharing.

Left on a bench.

Good luck to all running in the Great North Run today including my stepson Scott Walton.
