Charming story that draws you in, binding you to the characters and their emotions. However, The Betrayal is book 2 in the Abrahm's daughters series and is not a stand alone book - ie. The book ends with many unresolved issues. Thus, you need to read the series in order.

The second book in Lewis' series on Abram's Daughters was another good story, well-told and interesting to read. However, it did not have a satisfying ending. Without adding any spoilers for future readers, I will say that I hope there will be a comeuppance for SOME characters in Book 3.

Leah is a very likeable young woman and her story is graceful and grace-full. She is a wonderfully sympathetic character to help the reader understand the lives and faith of the Plain.

Thanks, vraciousrdr, for sending me this book!

I'm setting up a bookring for The Betrayal, initially targeted at those who participated in cwolfgang's bookring for the first book in the Abram's Daughters series, The Covenant. Others will be added if they ask, but I don't plan to go to the Forum to solicit readers until the bookring participants have a chance.

Names may be reordered, so be sure to check the list before mailing to the next person in the ring!

1. mysteryfan03 (CA)
2. LGinder (CA)
3. raralovestoread (FL)
4. duhwitt (IL)
5. hummingbird1938 (AL) <---book is here!
...room for more!

I finished this book this week, I could not put it down! As it is impossible to comment on this story without giving it away, please highlight the SPOILER below to read my comments :+)

I was sooo angry at the way that the author treated Leah at the end of the book!! We got such an overall image of peace and Godliness from the family and then Sadie and Dad did something so cruel and unfair.
I ALMOST don't want to read furthur in the series! Leah is very easy to relate to and it is hard to put this book down! I am glad that she finally found out about Lizzie and was happy about that.

Thank you so much WarEagle78 for sharing this book!

Got in todays mail. Will read within the next two weeks and get it back in the mail.

Excellent sequel to the Covenant. I really can't write much without ruining it for the next reader but I can say as a Christian I'm thankful to be covered by God's grace and know nothing I have done is unforgiveable in his eyes.

I'll mail as soon as I get the next readers address - and did everyone see there is a third book in the series? Rather a cliff hanging ending so at some future date I'll have to find book 3, The Sacrifice!

Mailing it out to next in line today.

Journal Entry 14 by raralovestoread from Ponchatoula, Louisiana USA on Wednesday, October 13, 2004
I received this in the mail today - perfect timing as I just finished a bookring book last night and am leaving to go out-of-town tomorrow. I hope I can remember what happened in the first book so I can follow the story. I'm sure it will all come back to me. :o)

I also wanted to note that this is the first book I've received that had "Opened for inspection by USPS" stamped on it. They did a good job of sealing back up the package; without that stamp I wouldn't have been able to tell it had been opened.

Grrrrr!!! That is my main comment about this book, which has me all riled up! The twists and turns in this book, particularly in the second half, made for interesting reading. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. Some of the twists I saw coming, but some totally surprised me. I don't want to say too much and spoil it for those who haven't read it yet. I have a suspicion about Sadie's baby, but I am not going to voice it here yet - maybe once everyone has read the book. There are also some quotes I want to share, but that will have to wait too. I feel compelled to read the third book soon, so I will not be left hanging about the story. Perhaps I will have to buy a copy and start the bookring for that one. Thanks for sharing this, WarEagle78!

Wow...i echo everyone's previous comments. Great book, but I had to put it down near the end because I just didn't want to know what came next. But I finally did finish it. I'm starting to really enjoy Beverly Lewis as a writer. Thanks for sharing this!

This book is the second in a series. I like the way it gives you a chance to see have different people live. It also reminds me of how my GrandParents lived. I was rasied on a farm but we did nopt have it as hard as these women did
