I ended up with a second copy of this book, so I'll release this one.
Added after I read my second copy:
It made sense for Rowling to try her hand at murder mysteries--most of the Potter books used a mystery framework, after all. But sadly, I ended up bored and hate-reading my way through a good portion of this 450+ page tome. (Hate reading because I accidentally bought 2 copies of this book and ended up determined to finish it at least once.) I couldn't have cared less about most of the characters, and even the leads never rose above unobjectionable. The third act was finally somewhat interesting, but it wasn't worth the slog it took to get there. Hopefully the world-building of the first two acts set the stage enough that the next book moves at a far faster pace, but I doubt I'll check it out.
