THE YEAR IS 2069, THE CENTENNIAL OF
THE APOLLO 11 MOON WALK.
Earth has been irrevocably altered by global climatic changes and a worldwide plague of P2 -- a slow-acting, insidious virus. The Moon, now populated by penal colonies and sex hotels, also protects mankind's most sought-after and vital commodity -- virus-free blood -- in the most impregnable high-security installation ever engineered.
The First National Blood Bank is the brainchild of security firm Terotech's chief designer, Dana Dallas. But after Dallas' P2-infected daughter is denied uncontaminated blood, he is considered a security risk -- and expendable. With his life on the line, and his family caught in the cross fire, Dallas swears revenge on the elitist system and his own creation. Enlisting an eclectic crew of rebels, he devises a daring plan to infiltrate the lunar fortress -- one that will jeopardize everyone involved, and hinges on a very strange and unforeseen ally.
In The Second Angel, acclaimed novelist Philip Kerr convincingly mixes prophecy and science in a dark, dystopian, high-velocity thriller that rockets toward its explosive conclusion.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
“Ein Buch ist nicht nur ein Freund, es schafft Dir neue Freunde. Wenn Du ein Buch in Gedanken und im Geist besessen hast, bist Du bereichert.
Aber wenn Du das Buch weitergegeben hast, bist Du dreifach bereichert.”
Henry Miller
Das Buch lasse ich frei im Gedenken an die Opfer des Attentats gegen Charlie Hebdo am 07. Januar in Paris.
Hello again Ghanescha ! Caught this morning in the Troc.
Sorry it's taken so long to get to this...
More of a sci-fi book, really, than a thriller - even though it 's basically about a bank heist. There are plenty of footnotes, especially early in the book, dealing with the actual science of what's happening...although, after a while, I just started skipping over these. (I also, late on in the book, just skipped the sections where the omniscient narrator spoke. It all felt too much cleverness for the sake of cleverness and got in the way of the narrative). I'd probably have enjoyed the book a bit more in my teens or early twenties. Nowadays, I think I'd prefer a little less work on the science and a little more work on the characters.
