This is the first Thurber I actually like. It belonged to my Dad who liked Thurber a lot and Thurbers were among the books I got when he passed away 13 years ago. The book has sat on my shelf all this time unread, but as I saw it on shnedward's wishlist I decided it needs dusting and a better home. It seemed a short read, so I had a go and the story reminds me of Oscar Wilde's and Roald Dahl's fairy tales. A bit of nonsense, a bit of poetry and a lot of cheek.

Thanks again for bringing this book over to Birmingham for me, kirjakko. I enjoyed it. It was nicely strange.

I'm now going to read it to my daughter because I think she will enjoy it too, especially some of the wordplay. Then I'm going to send it to Tsjara in the Netherlands, to whom I promised the book in Wishlist Tag.

A charming little story. I enjoyed the word play and the lovely pictures (the thing that nobody ever has seen before is rather creepy :p).
