A not-so-strange premise, considering how hard it is for people to put down their smart phones for even five minutes: people have internet feeds implanted into their brains at a young age, and are thereafter bombarded with sales pitches and friends' chatter, and have instant access to their favorite TV shows. They're also getting mysterious lesions for which no explanation is offered and no alarm is being raised; in fact, the lesions are being celebrated as fashionable.

When Titus meets Violet, his world is flipped. She didn't always have her feed, and her father is a university professor totally without a feed implant. I love that Titus is a totally flawed character, and that even when you know he's being a stupid jackass, you kinda understand and forgive him anyway.

There's lots more to be explored and explained at the end of the book, which means Anderson may decide to write a sequel sometime, but I think Anderson just wants to let our imaginations dictate what happens next. (I can't find a mention of an impending sequel.)
