1986 Penguin trade paperback of the 1984 collection, 1892-1899. This was on my list of best classics to read when I found this copy today in the Maybelle Little Free Library.
I can let this go after I read these, and also:
1892 Emancipation: A Life Fable (short story) [read 2013]
1892 At the 'Cadian Ball (short story) [read 2013]
1892 Desiree's Baby (short story) [read 2012]
1893 La Belle Zoraide (short story) [read 2014]
1893 At Cheniere Caminada (short story) [read 2014]
1894 The Story of an Hour (short story) [read 2013]
1894 A Respectable Woman (short story) [read 2014]
1894 Beyond the Bayou (short story) [read 2014]
1894 Regret (short story) [read 2014]
1895 Lilacs (short story) [read 2014]
1895 Ma'ame Pelagie (short story) [read 2014]
1895 The Kiss (short story) [read 2014]
1896 Athenaise (short story) [read 2014]
1896 How I Stumbled upon Maupassant (essay) [read 2014]
1897 A Pair of Silk Stockings (short story) [read 2014]
1897 A Morning Walk (short story) [read 2014]
1897 The Locket (short story) [read 2014]
1898 Neg Creol (short story) [read 2014]
1898 Elizabeth Stock's One Story (short story) [read 2014]
1898 The Storm (short story) [read 2014]
1899 The Awakening [read 2014]
Edit May 15, 2014: I think I just don't care much for her work. I don't enjoy the Creole language and settings of much of it, and her style is somewhat inaccessible. It takes too much of a strain to just figure out what is going on. I thought it might just be me, but then I listened to The Awakening on audio cd, and it was still impossible to follow. But I liked Beyond the Bayou, which is not in this collection, and A Pair of Silk Stockings, which is.
