Typically, I love Alice Hoffman's work. I wasn't very fond of this book, however, and found it difficult to get through. I felt, the whole time I was reading, that I was rereading WUTHERING HEIGHTS. Maybe Hoffman meant for readers to get the allusion, but something about it bothered me. Oh well, to each his/her own. Maybe the next reader will feel differently and we can begin a dialogue. That's why I only ranked this book a five *****
