Liesel, a 9-year old girl living in nazi-Germany with a foster family, because her parents have been taken away to a concentration camp. Liese steals books. The story is about her, and about the inhabitants of the street, when the bombs begin to fall. Extaordinary and thought provoking.

Thanks to a lengthy lockdown finally read this book. I really did enjoy it for the most part I have marked it down a little I felt sometimes it got a little verbose and bogged down. The character of death was a briliant piece of penmanship and the ending couldn't but help bring a tear to the eye.
