I got this book what now seems like about 300 years ago and never read it, actually I think I read the first short chapter, did not understand much and quit again. So this book has moved with me several time (crossing borders twice) and waited.... now I had a look at the birthday group´s members which lists and found this book there... and as I did not know what to read next, I decided to give it a try again.
At the moment I´ve read about 1/3 and start getting annoyed... I liked it a lot at the beginning with Alfred and Enid, got irritated by Chip (not at the beginning, but with the showdown with the girl - totally not my cup of tea), and now with Gary I´m having a bit of a difficult time controlling my impatience with him. But let´s see what else comes along...
Feb 28th. Woa, this was the most depressing book I´ve read in YEARS (if not ever). The whole atmosphere makes me want to stay in bed if you now what I mean - it´s not sad and making you cry, but really depressing.
I´m not sure if this is the intention of the book, but at least for me it´s really strong. And I´m really impressed by the description of Alfred´s conditions - that´s an eye opener I think.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
sent on as a RABCK
Thank you, schwester, for this lovely RABCK surprise.
I've heard many people praise the book so I was curious. Looking forward to reading it, despite the depressing subject matter. Will leave it for my holidays though, as I'm currently snowed under with work and depressing books just won't cut it. ;)
