The text on the back cover does not fully convince, but I'll give this one a try anyway:
Molly Weir grew up in the Glasgow tenements and in her much-loved autobiographical trilogy she vividly recreates the Glasgow of those days, and the courage and resourcefulness of the tenement dwellers.
They were a proud and independent people who knew that life was for living and met every challenge with their best foot forward. Despite crippling poverty and overcrowding, life was also fun—from impromptu recitations to the delights of the annual fair.

Oh: it was just the back cover that was a bit off. Very much OK as a memoir trilogy, this was. A good piece of history: works of this kind ought to be thought of as notable cultural contributions of larger than local interest. I didn't know the first thing about Molly Weir, though.
