Dear Mr. Henshaw-Newbery Award Winner 1984
1 journaler for this copy...
A very well-written book for young readers. Enjoyable for me (a good children's book should be able to keep an adult's interest as well) to read. Sometimes I just need an easy book to read in a single sitting.
The story line is a young boy, an author wanna-be, writing to his favorite author. The author is someone for him to connect with while he is going through hard changes in his young life (6th grade). There is a move and change of school along with (and due to) a divorce.
As the NYT Book Review is quoted on the cover, "This one is the best . . . Cleary knows the voices of children . . . A lovely, well-crafted, three-dimensional work . . ."

This has been loaned out to my BIL, who is traveling in the US this month.
