Thank you AmberLee17 for sending this book to me. This is the 2nd Amy Tan book which is waiting on my shelf to be read - I am going to take both of them with me when going to the seaside this summer!

3 August 05: another amazing Amy Tan book! I loved the characters so much - my favorite was Aunty Du because she was such a practical and energetical person who managed to help everyone in every situation.
As usual I was in the middle of the story before realising I had been reading so much already:)

8 August 05: sent as part of a trade.

I just finished reading. Thank you for this opportunity.
I would never have picked such a topic myself but the book was really interesting and a great read.
I never took a loot at Asian culture and political situation before due to my history teachers in school kind of messed that interest of mine for that time totally up. (We studied 2nd World War so much during school I was really afraid we overstudied the topic - becoming nearly immune to any mentioning of 2nd World War! And this even if I think it is a really important topic within our history)
Well, this book let me get back to the topic with a lot of interest. I cannot explain it in a different way .. it just was a really really interesting read!

Thank you for sending this one to me

I got this book from our meet-up yesterday in Dortmund. I just read the first twelve pages and it´s really interesting. So far, so good.
