Commemorative 1984 edition.

I read this in school, but suspect I'd get a lot more out of it reading it at this point in my life...

AmberLee17, thank you!
I had just finished this book and I enjoyed it so much!
I think everyone should read it.
Now, I will send it to a friend ( I hope he becomes a bookcrosser too!).

Recebi este livro do carismático jossanaijr no encontro dos Bookcrossers de Porto Alegre. Eu pretendo ler este livro durante esta semana.

This book was passed over to me by the carismatic jossanaijr in the bookcrossing meeting of Porto Alegre. I intend to read this book over the week.

I picked up the book at today's meetup. I think I'll put it on top of the TBR pile because jossanaijr wants to give it to a friend next.

Well, so much for reading it fast. My boss assures me that one day the project will be over and I'll be able to have a life again and even go to BC meetings. Speaking of that, I'm marking the book reserved until the next one or until jossanaijr tells me what do with it.

This was a very enjoyable read (which is odd, for such a bleak world). I knew the basic premise, of course. People who'll do anything to be on TV agree to be locked up in a house... no, wait. I knew the premise, but nothing about the plot, so I was curious to see how the story would develop. I wish it hadn't been so long since I read the other famous dystopias, Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World, and could compare them better.

I wonder if the theory behind Newspeak is applicable to Internet chat rooms. I've always felt that by using half-words people were also expressing half-thoughts.
