I thought I had read something else by this author, but maybe not. This was a bit of a family saga, and a wee bit dated at the same time. On the whole I enjoyed it, although the evil ones were really unsympathetic in the extreme... and the resolution lacked a great deal of credibility because of that. A page turner despite the occasional wince.
