Powerful book. Where has this author been hiding? Oh. Canada. I will be better about looking to the north.
Reeta has a wonderful life. She's a published author, has a circle of friends, a wonderful husband and three lovely daughters. She's uneasy, conflicted, why? Slowly her story emerges, one daughter is living on the streets, why? Her writing is feeling untrue, why? Her marriage seems quiet, why?
Is this a mid-life crisis? Is this the fate of women, forever under-valued and dismissed? The answers, when they come in the last 20 pages of the book, are wonderfully organic, possible, reasonable. But the questions have been raised.
