Look at me buying myself a brand new recently published book - that never normally happens! I usually read stuff 2nd hand several years after everyone else. What happened was, you see, I was supposed to be meeting a friend in Bloomsbury last Sunday, but she couldn't get there because of the snow, so I killed some time in a bookshop, and found myself buying a light read for the train home. Well, if you're going to use independent bookshops to keep warm you ought to fork out a few quid, I figured!

Anyway, this is a very light, quick read. There are some laugh out loud moments, but a lot of it seems like it is just padding. Ellen is a funny woman, but her relevations about what's important in life are a little underwhelming. Still, she's likeable and funny, and you get what you expect. My favourite joke was the one about Little Endorphin Annie. Tee hee hee!

I'll be taking this book to the Dublin bookcrossing convention this weekend, to find a new reader.

A collection of short comedy pieces by the US talk show host. I think I'd probably have enjoyed this more if I'd been a particular fan (rather than just knowing the name from afterellen.com, I mean). This was a fun read, but felt very shallow - mostly a series of very obvious jokes.
