Room: A Novel

What a great book! Very well written. Of course, the background story is very sad. But Jack's story is what this is really about. How he grows up in such a limited world and has to get adjusted to the fact that there is more out there. It's fascinating how his mom dealt with the situation of being shut in to the small room, even inventing games like running track around the bed to make sure he gets some excercise.
Arrived today thank you. That was quick! My grandson loved the postcard and claimed it as his letter (he's 4).
It's Jack's birthday, and he's excited about turning five. Jack lives with his Ma in Room, which has a locked door and a skylight, and measures 11 feet by 11 feet. He loves watching TV, and the cartoon characters he calls friends, but he knows that nothing he sees on screen is truly real - only him, Ma and the things in Room. Until the day Ma admits that there's a world outside.
