It's one of the great classics which have come from the French tradition. Yes, it does drag on sometimes, and you've seen the films, watched the series or heard the plot. But hear is the real deal.
It is meticulous - it has to be, to fill up so many pages, almost 1,000.
Jean Valjean is a persecuted man: he has stolen some bread because he was so hungry! Now, Janvert from the Parisien police won't stop until he has caught him. The omen seems to go after the next genearation, but in the middle of it all, the French Revolution arises.
