This is a story that challenges the imagination of readers who live in relative affluence. One has to wonder if life has to be stripped to the barest essentials in order to stimulate hopes and dreams enough to address problems and find solutions that benefit the whole community.

This is probably my favorite book of the year. The book traces the story of William Kamkwamba, the child of a subsistence farmer in Malawi who, after being forced to drop out of school because his family could not afford the school fees, decided to build a windmill. The book and the life of Mr. Kamkwamba are so inspiring and incredible. Watch his appearance on The Daily Show here: http://williamkamkwamba.typepad.com/williamkamkwamba/2009/10/watch-me-on-the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-last-night.html

Highly recommended.

This was a very good book about what can happen if you put your mind to something. It is amazing how someone with so little can take a small idea and change a community! Very inspirational.
