A wonderful novel that describes the human side of the Chilean and Argentinean dictatorships. Want more? Click here for a more complete review (by me!) of the book, and here for yet another copy with journal entries. Still not satisfied? Click here for Amazon's take on the book.

I picked this book back up and decided to make a birthday release of it, since no one in the Spanish department wanted it.

This book is going into my birthday bookbox. I chose it because I think it is one of Allende's best works. It really has a great under-theme of the dictatorships in Chile and Argentina, with different characters representing different classes, but you'd have to attend my Latin American Women Writers class to understand it all more fully! Enjoy!

I've taken this from the birthday bookbox. Having missed the Latin American and Spanish authors during my college literature days, this is a good way for me to expand my literary knowledge.
