from the back of the book:
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining booking is a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to soft through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't except to uncover in the chaotic office in an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night her family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents could devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feeling for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognized all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue loving her.

my thoughts:
Verity is one of those books you cannot put down. Well, sometimes it would get a little too intense and I would put the book down - but only for about 10 minutes or so, then I would pick it back up again. I really don't want to say too much about the story itself, as I don't want to ruin it for future readers. What I will say is that the foreshadowing, suspense building, and story development were fantastic. For a period of time, any one of the main characters could have been the antagonist as the story could have gone in any direction. As the book came to a close, it was wrapping up how I suspected it would. Then there were two more chapters that changed the narrative entirely. This is one of those books that will stick with me for awhile.

Thanks for all the birthday gifts! I love everything! I've actually read this book from the library, so it didn't show up on my bookcrossing shelf, but I am happy to have a book for releasing. Thank you!
