I love Theroux's travel writing so I bought this copy from HPB.

Fascinating and at times depressing, this is a road trip from the U.S.A. border into multiple regions of Mexico by the author. I really enjoyed this book although some sections were slow. I liked learning about making mezcal and the indigenous crafts such as weaving baskets and hats in Oaxaca. I also gained insight into the current USA-Mexico border humanitarian crisis even though at the time this book was written, the situation wasn't as bad as it is presently.
