New to Australia, this book came recommended. Certainly sounds interesting!

I was very impressed with this, Miles Franklin's first book. I enjoyed it because (1) the author is Australian and writes about places in Australia I now know about, and (2) because her descriptions are such that I feel I have a good understanding of what her Australia was like in the late 1800s. Not my regular type of read but a highly recommended one.

I have only skimmed through this book before returning it to The Salvos in Noble Park. I had picked it up because it was such a well known title but It wasn't my cup of tea and I have so many books that I still have to read and move on. I think that this tracking of books is a wonderful idea. I found a note in this book that indicated that the novel may have been in Dromana, Victoria at some stage.
